I've been keeping quite busy since my last post. I find it hard to do it all, all the time. So I forgive myself and give myself permission to not get it all done and I am much happier for it.

New Pattern

 

Here's the newest Little Craft Cottage pattern hot off the presses!              

It's A Brei's Apron pattern. 

Very easy to make. It has criss cross straps across your back, so there is no stress on your neck or upper back, also 3 pockets on the front. A breeze to put on and take off. I have the pattern available in paper form right now. you can find it here

New Motorcycle Seat and Painting Walls

This week I helped my son recover his motorcycle seat. He took them apart and traced the pieces onto the new fabric and I sewed them together. I did have him sew a couple of the easy hem pieces so he could say he sewed them too! Turned out really good. We still need to make a small bag for the handle bar area. He did the white walls himself too. Looks totally different than when his Dad owned it. When he sees it he says wow looks like a whole new bike!
Tomorrow we are painting the dining room and living room walls. I absolutely HATE painting walls unless I'm painting a mural. It's so tedious. But I will be glad to get it over and done. I've been bugging my husband for 2 years to help me paint them. I have all the drapes, curtains, and valances made and hung up. I finished those a couple weeks ago. Very pleased at how they all turned out. I will take a picture after the painting is done.

Newest Pattern/Instruction/Tutorial

I've been busy since my last post. I am actually making a few things for myself. Very unusual, but I figured it was about time. 
Here is my latest creation. I decided it was time to take the mystery out of making continuous bias quilt binding and bias tape once and for all. I looked at instructions in books for years and they just never made sense to me. After  quite a long time of trying again and again it finally clicked and I decided to make step by step instructions along with step by step color photos. I think my instructions are very easy to understand. Available in PDF form here at  My Craftsy Page

I made a new ironing board cover. I will post that tutorial one of these days.
  I also made new cushions for my rocking chair. Very over due!

And I made some football baby shoes. Available in all kinds of fabrics. Will sell for for about $18 a pair. If anyone is interested just drop us a note and we can discuss fabrics.

 Now I am making new drapes(with pleats, drives me nuts that the stores call a curtain with a pocket that slides on a rod a drapery) for the dining room and I have 2 small windows and a door window to make matching curtains as well. To finish it off I have 2 valances I will be making, 1 to go over the draperies and 1 to go over the kitchen window. That's the latest from around here. I need to take a break from sewing and make some more bread.

I got out the fabric, opened up the pattern, set the instructions down on top of the fabric, turned around to get the scissors and this is what I see when I turn back around!!

This is Pebbles, she loves to help me!! She sometimes lays behind the sewing machine and puts her paws in there when I'm sewing!! What a clown!

No wonder it's taking me so long to get these costumes done!

Happy Saturday

Well I figured since I had made one toilet seat cover I would make another for the master bathroom while it was still fresh in my mind. I only had small pieces of the matching fabrics left that I used for the valance. I had gotten ambitious years ago and cut it all into quilt pieces thinking I would someday make a quilt for the bed to match. After all I had made a matching valance over our bedroom window besides the shower curtain. I found the pieces all cut and half sewn into quilt blocks but no pattern in sight to know what I had been sewing. Oh the story of my life! The best plans, I get started, then life gets in the way. At least I had all the pieces together tucked in a plastic shoebox waiting to be finished. So I guess that bed quilt will probably never get finished since I used the center squares that were supposed to go in the stars and made the toilet seat cover. I got smart and drew a pattern and instructions up while I was making the second one. In case I decide to change the colors in either bathroom in the future. Here's the second one. Just goes to show you how life gets in the way...I still have yet to finish the pattern and samples of the priarie flowers I was working on a couple weeks ago! I have to admit it felt really good to make something for me and our house for a change.

Next I wanted to share a really good tasting recipe I got from the Nate Berkus show. As I removed the pan from the oven it turned out looking pretty ugly, glad they didn't taste as bad as they looked! Recipe link follows.
